The Allied Health Program provides students with an in-depth overview of the health care system. Curriculum includes an extensivestudy of careers, and training in basic health care skills including vital signs, body substance isolation techniques, observation and reporting, lifting and transferring techniques, and CPR/First Aid. Students learn anatomy and physiology emphasizing functions and diseases of the human body, medical terminology, medical ethics, germ theory and medical and surgical asepsis. Proper care and handling of equipment and supplies, understanding the patient/client and their environment, andpreparing and sending medical forms will also be included.
Internships and other work-based learning experiences will be offered throughout this course to provide students with hands on experiences in the health care field, while orientating them on how various careers interact in the health care setting. Students will also be connected to community colleges and health care institutions to receive advancedtraining and certification.
Qualifications
Must have at least a C or above in Biology
Minimum 2.0 GPA
90% or higher attendance rate
Must possess a good attitude and strong work ethic
