Welcome to the Medical & Health Careers Academy page! Recruitment Students will be recruited city-wide for acceptance into the Medical & Health Careers Academy Program. Primary students from Elementary Magnet Clusters in math and science and gifted programs will be targeted for recruitment. Medical Career Academies will start with a small class of entering freshmen. The Medical & Health Careers Academy is featured in many media outlets including: Admission Medical & Health Careers Academy applicants must complete elementary school with at least a C+ average, test at/or above grade level on standardized tests, and maintain good attendance. Applicants also must pass an entrance examination and submit the following: -
A writing sample -
A letter of recommendation from a principal, teacher, or counselor -
A letter of intent to enroll in the Medical & Health Careers Academy Program by the student applicant -
A contract signed by the parent(s) or guardian(s) and by the applicant ALL applications for admission will be reviewed by the Academy Coordinator, and ALL candidates and their parent(s) must participate in an interview process. Continued Participation Medical & Health Careers Academy students will have an annual review that will determine their continuation in the program. Each student is expected to maintain the following standards: -
A GPA of at least 2.5 out of a possible 4.0, with no academic failure -
95-100 percent class attendance -
Review by both the Academy Coordinator and Medical Faculty with input from parents. Sullivan High School A goal at Sullivan High School is to create young men and women who will become lifelong learners, informed and active voters, and productive individuals. Sullivan’s academic program is based on philosopher Mortimer Adler’s PAIDEIA PRINCIPLE, an educational model built around the use of the seminar, didactic, and coaching models of learning and teaching. All Medical & Health Careers Academy students receive strong active personal and academic support. -
All Medical Health Careers Academy students participate in internships and Chicago Public Schools and participating organizations. -
Academy graduates may qualify for scholarships from participating institutions of higher learning. -
Academy graduates will qualify for advanced placement in Associate Degree programs at City Colleges of Chicago. -
